Greetings, KickAss readers. Today, I’m thrilled to introduce Nikki Brandyberry–witty, sassy, and a helluva lot of fun. Her love of romance is evident in her poignant and often hilarious reviews. Without further ado, I’ll let her speak for herself.
Tell us about yourself. Where did your love for books come from?
Oh geez, I think I was born this way. I’ve been craving books for as long as I can remember. When I was little my mom would take me to the library and I’d come home with at least 15 books.
These days I’m a 33 yr old wife, a mother, a full time worker AND a blogger. Truthfully I should say I have two full time jobs because I truly think the blog is a 40 hour a week labor of love.
What is RFACM’s goal in the book world?
To read super good books that make me want to melt into a puddle and then tell everyone I know about them? Really I have no one specific goal. I’m comfortable with where I’m at now. I’m not looking to make money or grow so big that I become unapproachable. Nothing bugs me more than hearing readers or even authors who are afraid to approach a blogger because of their reputation or the size of their audience. I don’t want to be that person. I’m just me.
Where do you see RFACM doing in the long term? Do you have plans to expand and if so, how?
Last year I took the blog from a free platform to a hosted platform. I also added in some cheap advertising options for authors who might want some exposure that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg….basically just enough for me to pay for the blog hosting for the following year. I’d love to add a fourth reviewer because the amount of requests the three of us get has become hard to handle at times. Otherwise, I think I’m good. No more growing for a while.
What do you enjoy most about book blogging? Least?
I think the best part about the blog are the connections I’ve made with other book lovers and authors. I’ve made some genuine friends who I’m sure I never would have met if I hadn’t started the blog almost 5 years ago. The worst thing has to be telling people no. I’m a yes girl all the way. Having to turn down a review request is something I HATE to do. Necessary sure, but boy do I feel guilty every time.
Now for the Rapid Fire questions dear to the heart of any KickAss Chick.
Favorite Things: My reading chair/room, shamrock shakes, venti caramel macchiatos with extra caramel drizzle, my summer hammock, my furbabies and candy crush.
Pet Peeves: Horrible drivers. Nuff said.
Addictions: Coffee, hands down. If I don’t get it in the morning do not converse with me. Period.
KickAss Superpower: Can speed reading be a super power? No? Fine. I’d totally love to be able to time travel. You know with control. Not like The Time Travelers Wife guy who just faded in and out of time until finally he met an untimely end. That’s annoying. Can I add that to pet peeves?
Your best book boyfriend:
* For the night: Deacon from Love Hurts by Mandi Beck
* For a dirty weekend: Mark Compton from the Inside Out series by Lisa Renee Jones
* To have and to hold: Lon Butler from the Arcadia Bell series by Jenn Bennett
