Why it kicks ass…by Juliette

If you’re anything like me, then every now and then you crave a dark, gritty urban fantasy with a kickass vampire alpha hero. I’m one of those readers who ignores the experts in the publishing world who tell me what’s trending and what’s “in” or “out.” My need for the dark and forbidden doesn’t follow local popularity. When the craving comes, I feed it. So when I stumbled across this series by chance, I snatched it up with the hopes I wouldn’t be disappointed by weak world-building or cliché writing. I was NOT disappointed. This debut to the Midnight Breed series is captivating, sexy, and very fulfilling to this picky reader.

The Breed warriors are both protectors and hunters. They protect those of their own kind and the female Breed mates, who are often unaware of their role in the vampire world. And they hunt the vampires called Rogues who have given in to the blood lust, becoming animalistic predators of humankind. Gabrielle isn’t aware that she bears the mark of a Breed mate and is also unaware that she will be the target for the sadistic pleasure of Rogues if and when they find her. When Lucan stumbles across Gabrielle, the magnetic pull is undeniable. She bears the mark and he plans to claim her as his own. And, oh baby, is it a good chase.

The action and pacing is superb. Adrian lures the reader along with mystery, enchanting storytelling, and a captivating romance that will keep you up at night…in all the right ways. So if you’re looking for a compelling story in a new vampire world, take a tumble into the Midnight Breed series. You won’t be disappointed.
